Yesterday I was missing a Christmas cookie, one in particular that my Grandmother always made. It was a sour cream date cookie with some type of magical frosting. Well I've had this recipe for time and I actually made it a few years ago, but yesterday I was missing the annual email I had always gotten from my Grandma that had always talked about our holiday baking. So I went to the store, got all my ingredients, with the exception of Parkay margarine, which my Safeway has decided not to sell, and made cookies. I ended up not having enough powder sugar for the frosting, but I made it work. The Parkay is the secret ingredient in the frosting and it just didn't taste right without it. When I look at these cookies I think of my Grandmother and know that she'd wish she could be making them too.
